A Dream I Will Never Wake Up From – Fan Casting a Live Action Cowboy Bebop!

Cowboy Bebop is one of the my favorite anime of all time and I consider it to be one of the few anime that could actually have a good live action adaptation. The setting is perfect for a sci-fi futuristic western and would work well with Hollywood audiences. So here I am trying to do justice to the live action film that may happen someday by giving you my casting choices.

Jared Leto as Spike Spiegel

Jared Leto is a great actor, I think a lot of us can agree on that. With his award winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club and a pretty promising take on The Joker, I think it is pretty apt to come to that conclusion.

Why Do I Think He Will Be A Great Spike?

His physique is perfect. He has the body which is built for the role, but not to a point where it is buffed. The green hair looks pretty good on him. Spike has green hair too (take a look at Joker if you don’t believe me). He is pretty dedicated to his roles, which is necessary when you are going to play a character like Spike.I mean, the guy is a goof, a sharp shooter, a martial arts expert and a cool, no-shit taking cowboy. He is a character that requires a man who is versatile and Jared Leto is someone who I think can pull it off.

Michelle Monaghan as Faye Valentine

Michelle Monaghan is one underrated actress. She is surprisingly very talented in my opinion. Her performances in True Detective and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) are pretty good examples. So, that must beg the question…

Why do I think She would be a good Faye?

She can play damaged characters. Okay, I will be honest, she got to this list precisely because of her role in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. She was able to portray a damaged character who uses her cunning character to survive in the real world. Which is exactly who Faye Valentine is. Also, I can’t put this in any other words, so here it is……She is sexy!. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang also proved this and Faye is too.

Idris Elba as Jet Black

I think we are all on the same page I say that Idris Elba is an underused talent. The guy has proven time and time again that he can do almost anything. He played Mandela, a war general in Pacific Rim, a pilot of the spaceship in Prometheus, a drug lord in The Wire and was given a useless role in the Thor films, Let’s face it guys, playing a guy who is on screen for 10 minutes to hold a staff is not what Idris Elba should be doing. Anyways

Why Do I Think He can be a great Jet?

He can easily build up the physique. Also, seeing him play a father as well as a war general in Pacific Rim was great and Jet Black is the father figure and leader of the crew. Idris Elba can play damaged characters with a tragic past and guess what? Jet Black is a damaged character with a tragic past.

Chloe Grace Moretz as Edward Wong

Chloe Grace Moretz is one hell of an actress. She is without a doubt one of my celebrity crushes (mostly because of the fact that she and I are about the same age) and also one of the better younger actors around. She has played a vampire in Let Me In, and a badass heroin in Kick Ass. Yes, I am aware that she is older than what is intended for the role, but screw it. Its fan casting and it is a dream that I will never wake up from! Basically, I am going to assume she is young (probably around the age she was when she did Kick-Ass).

Why Do I Think She Is A Great Pick?

When I saw Kick-Ass, one thing that I noticed Chloe brought to the table as Hitgirl was being a tomboy, which is one of the main characteristics of Edward. Not only that, she played a vampire in Let Me In, and she was able to bring a variety of expressions, especially when she is killing someone or drinking blood. This is something that is necessary for the role of Edward, since she has a huge variety of expressions.

Well, hope that was interesting. It was fun, but it was hard to choose someone for Edward Wong. Regardless, this is my first fan cast lineup article I have ever done, so I hope you can forgive some weird choices I may have made. But, I want to ask you guys, Who do you think would be great to play these characters? Take over the comment section.

Cheers…and take care
